Class 6: Talking about jobs and occupations

Class 4&5: Verb TO BE and possessive adjectives

Hi,

When we are talking about people, we can talk about them or we can talk about things that belong to them. For the first case, we use the subject pronouns:

1.  Liliana is my best friends. She is an electronics engineer.

2. Pablo and I are cousins. We have a lot of fun on vacation.

3. Camilo is my dentist. He is from Cali.

For talking about people's possessions or belongings, we use the possessive adjectives. Analyze the following examples:

I like pets. My pet is a dog.

  •  You study English. Your English teacher is Claudia.
  • Nancy is from Colombia. Her nationality is Colombian.
  • Juan is my brother. His middle name is Felipe.
  • My pet is a dog. Its name is Krusty.
  • Daniel and I have a car. Our car is blue.
  • Nicolás and David have a sister. Their sister is Laura.

The following video will help you clarify this topic.

Class 3: Personal information p. 1

Verb TO BE is a linking verb, this means it helps us to connect a person with some specific information such as name, nationality, age, marital status, profession, general physical description, character, and other pieces of personal information. The next image shows you some examples.

As practice is quite important, let's work on the topic with the following exercises. Please, if you need to use a contraction use the apostrophe (the key after number 0).

Class 1: The alphabet

Hi,

This video will help you check the pronunciation of every single letter in the  English alphabet, so you can practice for spelling names in our next class.

Please remember that spelling is very common in English spoken countries, so why don't you practice with the next video? You will listen to a man spelling 20 different names. Take notes on your notebook and check your answers with the video itself.

Cheer up!
