Final written test

As your final written text, you are required to create a brochure or flyer about a town where you usually go on vacation, not a city, althought you may talk about a place in Colombia you would like to go (not Medellín, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Cali). This document must include pictures to support your ideas.

 

The information you need to include is as follows:

  • Make a general description about the location of the town. Include the state where it is, its weather and why you like or are interested in this place.
  • Provide information about how to get there (means of transportation) and the cost (tickets, toll, gas, etc.)
  • Describe briefly the activities tourists can do there, if they are not for  free, mention the fee.
  • Tip people about things to carry with them in order to have a pleasant trip.

The duedate for this activity is June 15 at 8:00 am

Third oral task: UCC Master Chef

Hello,

 For your final oral task I want you to make a video in which you describe a recipe you want to share with the class. Please remember that you are asked to use quantifirers and give the instructions for preparing the dish you selected, and that the video's lenght is not longer than 4 minutes. 

Next you find the instructions and competences you are going to be evaluated on.

COMPETENCE

Students are able to:

·         Use quantifiers in an accurate way.

·         Give clear instructions for preparing a recipe.

 EVIDENCE

A 3-4 minute video in which you prepare a recipe while explaining the needed ingredients and their quantities and the steps to follow. You are asked to post the link for the video in the class' blog.

PREPARATION

- You are asked to work alone.

- Don't read, this is a speaking activity.

- Keep in mind that you need to star your own video.

- Don't forget to explain the ingredients you need before starting cooking. Use quantifiers if possible.

- Give brief but clear instructions while cooking. 

- Edit your video so it accomplishes the allotted time.

- Enjoy this activity and have fun!

Second oral task: Touring my neghborhood

Hello,

For your second oral task I want you to make a tour around your neighborhood in which you describe its popular places, what people can do there. where they are located and why you like them.

NAME Welcome to my neighborhood
COMPETENCE

 For this activity students are able to:

  • Greet and introduce himself/herself 
  • Identify places in a city and describe the activities people do there.
  • Use prepositions of place in an accurate way.
  • Describe places that are familiar to them.

 

 EVIDENCE

A Power Point presentation including the following aspects:

  1. Explain the location of your neighborhood in Bogota through a map.
  2. Describe your neighborhood in a brief but clear way.
  3. Describe 3 of the most popular places in your neighborhood (one per slide). Explain what people can do there and why they are popular. Don't forget to describe its location by using prepositions of place. Use Street View for supporting your ideas in case you don't have photos.
  4. On Google Maps set the way to follow from a starting point (it can be your place) to one of the places youy described. Add a screenshot to describe it to the class.
  5.  Don't write sentences in the slides but you can use key words.
PREPARATION

Keep in mind that this is a speaking activity, therefore, you aren't allow to read. The lecture lasts 3-4 minutes per students.

First oral task: This is my family

Next class it will take place your first oral task and the idea for you is to tell the class some information about people in your families. You are asked to talk about their personal information, abilities and the family ties among them.

·   Ask and give information about people's  abilities, family ties and physical appearance.

·  Use English language structures accurately in an oral form

 

 EVIDENCE A short oral presentation about your family. Please talk about their personal information and physical appereane.
PREPARATION

You are asked to choose a family photo in advance in order to describe it to the class.

You need to turn on youyr camera and shara you screen with the class for this task.

You are not allowed to read the descriptions since the task' purpose is to present your own personas ideas in a clear way.

 Allotted time: 3-4 minutes.
